Code Jam 2012 -- Practice 1

Code jam time again!

this time going to use python!. trying to get familiar with pycharm and python in general. here's my hacky mess for practice1 (shop credit).

I wasted a lot of time last year simply reading and writing files in C#. I think python will be a lot quicker for me to do this as long as I get comfortable in it.
